Top Ten Tuesday: Holiday Gift Guide

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog

When I saw the topic for TTT this week, I began to think about what kind of holiday gift guide to list. YA? Middle Grade? Series? Graphic Novels? And I couldn't pick just one. Which is why this week I'm going to list books that I think would make excellent gifts, but for different people, not just one person like I was originally thinking! All of the books in this post are ones I really recommend! And most of these are ones I read this year, but there are exceptions in this post. Now here we go!

(I tried to stick to just ten books, but I kept thinking that I just had to add one more book, and before I knew it I was waay past ten. And I could have added even more, but I made myself stop.)

I decided to list all the things I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving! It felt good to think about all the things I am thankful for and post it. Here are five bookish and five non-bookish things I'm thankful for! :)

Top Ten Things I'm Thankful For

Non-Bookish Things:

My Parents
I love my parents so much. They're always there for me.

Obviously.

My Town
It's not perfect, but I love it.

The Bloggers and Authors I've Gotten to Know Through My Blog
I've been able to get to know so many amazing people through this blog.

Review: Out of Tune

Review: Out of Tune by Gail Nall

A country music hopeful puts her Nashville dreams on hold when she moves into an RV to travel across the country with her family in this charming new novel from the author of Breaking the Ice.

When twelve-year-old Maya’s parents sell their house and move the family into the world’s ugliest RV to travel the country, Maya’s only goal is to get back home in time to audition for Dueling Duets, the singing competition show that’s going to surely propel her—and her cowboy-hatted crush—to country stardom.

As Operation Maya Goes Home, or OMGH, turns out to be more complicated than she had expected, she embarks on a secret one-day, one-hundred-mile bike ride with her know-it-all little sister, a cute nature boy, and blue-haired, earbud-addicted Shiver (a.k.a. the most annoying girl ever). Somewhere between the worst muscle ache she’s ever experienced and losing half of their group to a flat tire, Maya starts wondering if maybe, just maybe, it’s possible to find home in the last place you expected.

Plot: The idea of this book is so neat! Going to live in an RV with your family, traveling all over? Awesome! And while I totally get why Maya (the main character) may not be thrilled about it (Barely having any space for books? Ugh. Not to mention the fact that she's missing the audition she's been dreaming of with the boy she likes.), but I think it sounds really fun, getting to travel across the US! :)

Characters: Maya was fun to read about! I really liked Remy! And Bug and Shiver were fun, too!

The cover: Love! It's fun, and perfect for the book!

Overall: I really enjoyed this book! And while I don't know if the author is planning a sequel, I would definitely read one if she wrote it! If you're looking for a fun Middle Grade book, I definitely recommend trying this book! :)

I received an ARC of this book from the author and publisher.
