Summer Lovin’ 2022! Interview With Belle Calhoune!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Belle Calhoune, the author of Summer on Blackberry Beach, which is out now! She is also the author of multiple other romance novels, including Their Alaskan Past, which is also out now.

Would you please tell us a little about your book, Summer on Blackberry Beach?

Set in Mistletoe, Maine, Summer on Blackberry Beach centers around teacher, Stella Marshall, and former Navy Seal, Luke Keegan. Stella has been reeling from being dumped right before her wedding a few years earlier while Luke has been forced into early retirement as a Navy Seal due to an injury. Upon his return to his hometown of Mistletoe, Maine, all the single ladies are trying to hook up with Luke via his brother, Nick. At the same time, Stella is the target of several matchmakers who want to see her settled down with the perfect match. Gossip is flying around Mistletoe about the two single residents, Annoyed by all the matchmaking attempts, Stella and Luke decide to enter into a fake relationship (a showmance) in order to get a break from the matchmaking. As they try to make themselves appear like a real couple, genuine feelings start to crop up. But, in order to get to their happily ever after, Luke has to confront his PTSD while Stella has to push past her insecurities.

You also had the newest book in your Love Inspired series, Home to Owl Creek, release this year! Would you like to tell everyone a little about Their Alaskan Past?

Their Alaskan Past is a reunion romance featuring veterinarian, Maya Roberts, and champion dog musher, Ace Reynolds. Ace is a jaded soul who returns to his hometown after a horrific Iditarod race accident that gravely wounded his lead dog, Luna. Maya has always wanted to set up a dog rescue and her plan has come to fruition after securing a location next door to her Vet practice. But now she needs someone to run the rescue. When his ex, Maya, asks Ace if he wants to run her dog rescue, he emphatically tells her no. Working with the woman who broke his heart isn’t an option. But, when the family home is in jeopardy, Ace steps forward to accept the position for financial reasons, which puts him in close contact with Maya. As old feelings come flooding back to them, Maya struggles to tell Ace the truth behind her reason for ending their romance while Ace is still wounded from Maya dumping him. As secrets come to light, their bond is tested.

This was a fun book to write, especially as I was able to do local research on dog rescues in my area and meet a lot of sweet dogs and impressive caretakers.

Random Question! What’s your favorite time of year?

I love Christmas so it’s hard to find a happier time of year for me, but my favorite season is actually Fall. The crisp New England weather, the leaves changing color, the smell of a roaring bonfire, football games, wearing sweaters and boots, pumpkin soup…and all other pumpkin delights. Apple picking, making dishes in the crockpot, balmy weather. There isn’t much I don’t like about Fall.

If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?

I just finished edits for the third book in my Mistletoe, Maine series. It’s called Falling In Love on Sweetwater Lane and it comes out in 2023, so a bit of a wait. It centers around Nick Keegan (Luke’s younger brother) who is a single dad after the tragic death of his wife in an accident. His work in search and rescue leads him to Harlow Jones, the new veterinarian in town. It’s a very emotional story and I hope readers will be rooting for Nick and Harlow’s happy ending. I also just turned in the first book in a new series for Love Inspired set in Serenity Peak, Alaska. It’s a reunion romance with an older heroine who is pregnant with her first child and a fisherman hero with a tragic past.

What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?

Some of my favorite romances: Beach Reads by Emily Henry, Rain by Brenda Jackson, The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory, A Lowcountry Bride by Preslaysa Williams, The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren and Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier.    I’m looking forward to The True Love Book Shop by Annie Rains, Claiming Her Texas Family by Jolene Navarro, American Royalty by Tracy Livesay.

Thank you to Belle Calhoune for participating in this event! :)
