Summer Lovin’ 2022! Interview With Jayci Lee!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Jayci Lee, the author of Booked on a Feeling, which releases July 26th! She is also the author of multiple other romance novels, including A Song of Secrets, which is out now.

Would you please tell us a little about your book, Booked on a Feeling?

Hmm. Let’s see. At its core, Booked on a Feeling is about two best friends going on a journey of self-discovery and growth which ultimately leads them to each other as their whole, complete selves. Lizzy is a successful but burnt-out litigator from Los Angeles, and Jack is someone who feels stuck in his life, working at his family’s brewery in a small Californian town.

After a disastrous opening statement at a pivotal trial in her career, Lizzy realizes that she needs a break and decides to visit Jack in Weldon, where she spent many of her childhood summers. Jack is thrilled and terrified that he will have Lizzy to himself for three whole weeks. He’s been in love with her since he was nine and he can’t decide whether to get over her or go all in and capture her heart.

As the two of them join forces to rejuvenate a local indie bookstore, they can’t fight the attraction that flares between them. Lizzy discovers that Jack is not only her friend but her everything while Jack doesn’t know if he could risk his friendship with Lizzy to have all of her, because losing her means losing himself. But before they could choose each other, they have to discover who they are and what they want in life even if their choices tear them apart.

You also had A Song of Secrets release this year! Would you like to tell everyone a little about it?

Ooh, this new series is so decadent. A Song of Secrets is the first book in the Hana Trio series and centers around the violinist, Angie Han. The Hana Trio consists of her and her two sisters, and each book in the series features one of the sisters. There is something inherently sexy about classical musicians, especially string musicians. At least, I think so. Haha.

The hero, Joshua Shin, is the CEO of his family’s company but he is a classical composer in secret. He and Angie were madly in love in college, but she had to leave him due to her overprotective father. Ten years later, she discovers that Joshua is the famous anonymous composer and approaches him with a plea to help the struggling Chamber Music Society that the Hana Trio belongs to.

Angie and Joshua are torn between distrust and longing. They give into their passion but hold parts of themselves back to avoid getting hurt. It’s so juicy and angsty. All seems lost when their secrets are blown open, but they find their way back to each other through music and love.

Random Question! What’s your favorite time of year?

I love summer! It not only brings back many fond memories but it’s also a time to create new ones. It’s the season to slow down a little to soak up the sun and happiness.

If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?

Well, I’m working on the last book in the Hana Trio series. It’s about the violist and youngest sister, Chloe Han. She’s a professional musician, a grad student, and a die-hard gamer. The hero, Anthony Larsen, is a child prodigy turned world famous virtuoso violinist. He was her teenage idol and crush, but now she has to work with him professionally. Eeek! It’s going to be a fun one.

I’m also working on a secret project—a book of my heart—that is nothing like I’ve ever written before and I absolutely love it. I hope I could share more about it soon.

What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?

Some of my recent-ish favorite romance novels are The Hating Game, Red, White & Royal Blue, Kiss Quotient, Get a Life Chloe Brown, and A Court of Mist and Fury. I have to stop myself because this could go on and on. As for what I’m looking forward to reading? So. Freaking. Many. I’m super behind on my reading. I don’t even know where to begin. I definitely have to read everything by Olivia Dade, Tessa Bailey, Ali Hazelwood, and Dennis Williams to start. Then I have to continue reading next in the series for Sonali Dev, Priscilla Oliveras, Mia Sosa and Alexis Daria.

Thank you to Jayci Lee for participating in this event! :)

Author Bio: Jayci Lee writes poignant, sexy, and laugh-out-loud romance every free second she can scavenge. She lives in sunny California with her tall-dark-and-handsome husband, two amazing boys with boundless energy, and a fluffy rescue whose cuteness is a major distraction. At times, she cannot accommodate real life because her brain is full of drool worthy heroes and badass heroines clamoring to come to life.

Because of all the books demanding to be written, Jayci writes full-time now, and is semi-retired from her fifteen-year career as a defense litigator. She loves food, wine, and travelling, and incidentally so do her characters. Books have always helped her grow, dream, and heal, and she hopes her books will do the same for you.
