Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Lillie Vale, the author of Beauty and the Besharam, which is out now! She is also the author of multiple other books, including The Decoy Girlfriend, which releases in September.
Would you please tell us a little about your book, Beauty and the Besharam?
Absolutely! Beauty and the Besharam is a YA rivals-to-lovers modern fairytale in which Kavya Joshi, a grumpy girl, and Ian Jun, a cinnamon-roll sunshine boy, must work in complete sync at their summer jobs but go head-to-head to prove themselves #1 during a series of friend-devised summer challenges.
Forced proximity galore! Banter and bookish main characters! Snark and swoons! Cutely combative! Kavya's adamant that there's no way she's going to lose...her heart. But of course this is a rom-com, so make of that what you will! ;)
You have another book releasing this year! Would you like to tell everyone a little about The Decoy Girlfriend?
The Decoy Girlfriend stars writer Freya Lal, who is caught impersonating her movie star lookalike and is blackmailed into taking her place, including dating the actress’ sexy co-star boyfriend, all while struggling to meet the deadline for her next book. Which is easier said than done between all the distractions of parties, premieres, photoshoots, and, most fun of all, playing house with the fake boyfriend she's just inherited! (Fun fact: He looks like Logan Lerman! Remember those salt-and-pepper pics?)
Random Question! What's your favorite color?
This varies (most recently I favored hot pink a ton), but I always come back to purple, specifically: aubergine, lilac, and amethyst.
If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?
This summer is buzzing with new projects! The one at the forefront of my attention is my next Adult book, a steamy opposites-attract Christmas rom-com that'll wrap you up snugly in a cozy flannel hug.
What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?
I recently read and loved Something Wilder by Christina Lauren and Book Lovers by Emily Henry! Can't wait to read Better than Fiction by Alexa Martin, A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley, and Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young.
On the YA side, Kristina Forest's latest, Zyla & Kai, brought all the feels, and my next read is an advance copy of The Love Match by Priyanka Taslim! I'm also really looking forward to This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede.
I'm hoping to make a substantial dent in my always-growing TBR this summer, especially considering how many incredible new books will be releasing in the second half of 2022/early 2023!
