Review: Love from Scratch!

This summer, Reese Camden is trading sweet tea and Southern hospitality for cold brew and crisp coastal air. She's landed her dream marketing internship at Friends of Flavor, a wildly popular cooking channel in Seattle. The only problem? Benny Beneventi, the relentlessly charming, backwards-baseball-cap-wearing culinary intern--and her main competition for the fall job.

Reese's plan to keep work a No Feelings Zone crumbles like a day-old muffin when she and Benny are thrown together for a video shoot that goes viral, making them the internet's newest ship. Audiences are hungry for more, and their bosses at Friends of Flavor are happy to deliver. Soon Reese and Benny are in an all-out food war, churning homemade ice cream, twisting soft pretzels, breaking eggs in an omelet showdown--while hundreds of thousands of viewers watch.

Reese can't deny the chemistry between her and Benny. But the more their rivalry heats up, the harder it is to keep love on the back burner...

Plot: When I first read the summary for this book, I knew I absolutely add it to my TBR list, because it just sounded like such a "me" book. Rivals to more? A cooking channel? Yes and yes! And I am so happy to write that I was right! It was so gouda! I loved reading about Reese competing for the job, and falling in love, while also dealing with how cruel people can be, not to even mention how differently she was treated from Benny (even though it made me angry during these parts, because it was so true).

Characters: Reese was a great main character! Benny was so sweet, and while I must admit that I (like Reese) wasn't a big fan of him at first, by the end of the book I was totally shipping them. (I know Benny won't go bacon Reese's heart, because he's her biggest flan! They're the real dill, and are practically pearfect!) Reese's friends were great, and I loved how supportive they were. The chefs (particularly the women) at Friends of Flavor were awesome, too!

The Cover: It's really cute, I like it!

Overall: This was a five star read for me, and I can't recommend this book enough! I loved it so mochi! (Food puns play a part in their romance, so I had to sprinkle a few in this review! Can you spot them all?) Overall, I highly recommend this YA novel!

I received an e-ARC from the publisher.
