Blog Tour: Killer On The Court (Murder, She Wrote) - Interview And Review!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to be a part of the blog tour for the newest book in the Murder She Wrote series, Killer On The Court! Read on for my interview with Terrie Farley Moran, and my review of the book, plus there's a giveaway!

Interview:

Would you please describe your book, Murder, She Wrote: Killer on the Court, in seven words?

Family fun at Rockaway Beach until—MURDER!

I started watching Murder, She Wrote a couple of years ago, and I absolutely love it! What’s it like writing books based on the series?

I would say that both the show and the books are based on the character of Jessica Fletcher. She is polite but firm, always determined to ferret out the truth, but she never deliberately puts herself in harm’s way. One difference is that in the television show the audience sees events and hears conversations that Jessica doesn’t because she is not in every scene. Then she may, or may not, learn about them later. But the books are written in first person so Jessica must either observe what happens, someone has to tell her what they witnessed or she has to find a clue some other way. Jessica has to constantly gather the information to draw the right conclusion because in the books she is never offstage.

Random Question! What’s your favorite time of year?

Autumn. The heat of summer is behind me, winter’s frigid temperatures are not yet here. The leaves on the trees turn amazing colors and are as gorgeous as the flowers in Spring. And when the leaves fall, I can run and jump in them, which is always great fun.

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?

Finish what you are writing. Even if you don’t think it’s good enough. Even if another concept or plot line diverts your attention. Discipline is essential. My mantra is: Writing is a job. Publishing is a business.

What are some mysteries you’ve recently read and enjoyed?

Oh, where to start? Independent Bones by Carolyn Haines, Cat Me if You Can by Miranda James, Mimi Lee Reads between the Lines by Jennifer J. Chow, A Killer Sundae by Abby Collette, Murder on an Irish Farm by Carlene O’Conner. As you can tell, I am a cozy mystery loyalist!!

Thank you so much for inviting me here today. I enjoyed our visit.

Review:

I love the Murder, She Wrote TV show, which has become a comfort watch for me. I was so looking forward to reading a book based on it (I haven't read any of the previous books in the series, but I plan on going back and checking them out!), and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! This was a delightful way to revisit the characters, while also having an excellent mystery! Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of MSW, and to anyone who enjoys a good mystery!

I received an e-ARC from the publisher and author.

Jessica Fletcher’s sunny beach vacation with her nephew’s family takes a dark turn in this new installment in the USA Today bestselling series.

Jessica is delighted when her nephew Grady invites her to spend a few days with his family in an oceanside New York bungalow. She packs her bags and heads down to the city, ready to spend some quality time with Grady, his wife, Donna, and their young son, Frank.

But the morning after Jessica’s arrival, Donna finds her boss dead on a tennis court, and Jessica’s dreams of a relaxing visit are quashed. Everyone in the small beachside community is a suspect, and the local authorities—headed by an old colleague of Cabot Cove sheriff Mort Metzger—have asked that no one leave town. Will Jessica be able find a killer and salvage the rest of her trip?
