Summer Lovin’ 2022! Interview With Samara Parish!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Samara Parish, the author of How to Deceive a Duke, which is out now! She is also the author of multiple other books, including the third book in the series, How to Win a Wallflower, which releases in December.

Would you please tell us a little about your book, How to Deceive a Duke?

How to Deceive A Duke is a second chance Romance starring a duke who is terrified of scandal and a common born Scotswoman who’s a pants-wearing chemist In a time where women were not allowed a career, let alone a scientific one.

Fiona would gladly never see Edward again, but when she is arrested at a political rally dressed as Finley, he’s the only one who can spring her from jail. Much to both of their dismay, the judge releases her into the duke’s care, as long as she resides in his home until the trial.

Edward wants her to lay low to avoid any rumours circulating, but Fiona is determined to sell her new invention – matches – even if she has to dress as a man to do so.

She is stubborn. He is arrogant. They drive each other nuts in the worst and best possible ways.

The next book in the series, How to Win a Wallflower, releases in December, can you tell us a little about it?

How to win a wallflower tells the story of Edward’s little sister, Charlotte, who readers might remember from How to Deceive A Duke. She has always been madly in love with her brother’s best friend.

John abandons his little patch of solitude in America to return home following his brother’s death. Not only is John the new Viscount, he has inherited bankrupted estates. The only way he can save them is to marry Lady Luella, a cruel young woman who happens to be Charlotte‘s nemesis.

The worst thing that Charlotte can think of is her childhood crush marrying her arch enemy, so she sets about formulating a scheme to help him raise the money he needs. Between John’s perfect memory and Charlotte’s charm, there is not a game of cards that they can’t win. But even the best laid campaigns don’t always go to plan.

As the stakes get higher, their risk of losing more than their estates. They’re about to lose their hearts.

Random Question! What’s your favorite food?

My comfort food is macaroni and cheese, but it has to be made the way my mum makes it. A white sauce, lots of cheese, and bacon.

If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?

I don’t actually know, and it’s stressing me out! I’ve sent three new series ideas to my editor and I’m just waiting for her to tell me which one she likes the most. But I am kind of enjoying the break. It’s given me the time to get lost in TikTok. The app is so addictive.

What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?

Bridgerton was the first romance series that I ever read, so I have a soft spot for them. My other favourite Romance is an old one. It’s called Taming Rafe by Suzanne Enoch. I leant my first edition copy out, though, and I never got it back. I bought the new addition when it came out, but it’s not quite the same.

Thank you to Samara Parish for participating in this event! :)

Author Bio: As an Australian army brat in the ‘80s, Samara grew up moving from city to city—always with plenty of book boxes (to the movers’ annoyance). She knew she wanted to be a writer from an early age and studied a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Creative Writing at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.

Her first job out of university was with a small publisher on the Gold Coast and then with Queensland Theatre Company. Her career took a slight detour, and it was while she was working as a high school drama and physics teacher that she started writing romance.

Romance novels had been a big part of her life for years. She used them as her ‘escape’ during the trials and tribulations that are working, dating, and living in your 20s.

She is now living in Canberra with her husband (a true romance hero) and her menagerie of pets. How to Survive a Scandal is her debut novel and is the first in a 3-book deal with Forever. How To Deceive A Duke and How To Win A Wallflower will be released in 2022.
