2019 End of Year Survey

Hi, everyone! Jamie at The Perpetual Page-Turner has posted the 2019 End of Year Survey she creates every year, and I can't wait to fill mine in! Here we go! :)

**2019 READING STATS**

Number Of Books You Read: 60 That's what Goodreads says, though I know I read probably closer to 70 books, I just wasn't adding them to Goodreads for most of the year. (That's including Picture Books, Graphic Novels, Middle Grade, YA, Adult, and Non-Fiction.)
Number of Re-Reads: Probably about 5? Most of that was picture books.
Genre You Read The Most From: Contemporary!

Best in Books:

1. Best Book You Read In 2019?
(If you have to cheat — you can break it down by genre if you want or 2019 release vs. backlist)
There's no way I can pick just one (I may not have read as many books this year, but there were a lot of good ones I did read!), so I'm going to break this down by Picture Book, Middle Grade, YA, Adult, and Graphic Novels!

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?
I don't really want to answer this question. :)

 3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read?
I'm going to go with A Lady's Guide to Etiquette and Murder and Sleepless Vol. 1! I thought both of those books sounded interesting, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved them! They were both so good, and they are part of my top books of the year.

4. Book You “Pushed” The Most People To Read (And They Did)?
Most of the books I listed in best of the year I recommended a lot. But I'm not sure if anyone actually read those books because I recommended them?

5. Best series you started in 2019? Best Sequel of 2019? Best Series Ender of 2019?
Ooh, I can't list just one per question!

Best Series Ender: Sleepless Vol. 2. (Apparently I can only list one book for this question! I guess I only read one series ender in 2019?)

6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2019?
I'm not including Graphic Novelists in this, because I read a lot of new to me authors this year in that category this year, and it would make this even longer than it already is.
I read a lot of  new to me authors this year that became favorites! Jen DeLuca! Maurene Goo! Ashley Elston! Dianne Freeman! Nina Kenwood! Lauren Layne! Emma Lord! Jenn McKinlay! Robin Stevens! Meagan Spooner! I'll stop now! :)

7. Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?
I don't think I really read outside of my comfort zone this year?

8. Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book of the year?
I read a few books that would fit this category, but I'm going to answer with The Hummingbird Dagger! I didn't want to stop reading it!

9. Book You Read In 2019 That You Would Be MOST Likely To Re-Read Next Year?
I've Got Your Number! Next to Finding Audrey, this was my favorite Sophie Kinsella book I've read so far, and I would really like to reread it!

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2019?
I think it's probably a tie between Listen to Your Heart

It's just looks like summer to me! And since summer is my favorite season, I love this cover!

I really like the illustrations on these covers!

11. Most memorable character of 2019?
This was a difficult one to answer, but I'm going to say Sweetie from There's Something About Sweetie!

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2019?
I don't know what book to pick for this question!

13. Most Thought-Provoking/ Life-Changing Book of 2019?
Again, I don't know what book to answer with!

14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2019 to finally read?
Oh, this is easy to answer! Books Can Be Deceiving! My Mom has been trying to get me to read that series for forever, and I finally read the first book! I can't believe it took me that long to read it, because I loved it!

15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2019?
I didn't keep track of quotes this year, so I don't have an answer for this question!

16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2019?
According to Goodreads:

Longest: Sherwood, at 470 pages
Shortest: C is for Christmas, at 26 pages.

 17. Book That Shocked You The Most
(Because of a plot twist, character death, left you hanging with your mouth wide open, etc.)
I won't spoil it, but the end of Sleepless Vol. 1 had a big plot twist!

 18. OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)
(OTP = one true pairing if you aren’t familiar)
I have two answers for this question! Poppy and Sam from I've Got Your Number, and Lucky and Jack from Somewhere Only We Know!

 19. Favorite Non-Romantic Relationship Of The Year
I couldn't narrow down this question from more than three different answers!

The friendship between Hazel and Daisy in the Murder Most Unladylike series.

The relationship between Sophie and her family in 10 Blind Dates.

And the friendship between the Crafternooners in the Library Lover's series.

20. Favorite Book You Read in 2019 From An Author You’ve Read Previously

21. Best Book You Read In 2019 That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else/Peer Pressure/Bookstagram, Etc.:
The Library Lover's series because of my Mom's recommendation, the Murder Most Unladylike series because of Emma, and 10 Blind Dates because of multiple people!

22. Newest fictional crush from a book you read in 2019?

23. Best 2019 debut you read?

24. Best Worldbuilding/Most Vivid Setting You Read This Year?
The setting of Sherwood was very vivid to me.

25. Book That Put A Smile On Your Face/Was The Most FUN To Read?
Okay, I'm going to answer with the first book that came to mind, and that's Tweet Cute! It doesn't release until January, but I loved it so much!

26. Book That Made You Cry Or Nearly Cry in 2019?

27. Hidden Gem Of The Year?
The Hummingbird Dagger! It was really good, and I think it deserves a lot more attention!

28. Book That Crushed Your Soul?
I don't know what book to answer with!

29. Most Unique Book You Read In 2019?
I couldn't decide what book to answer with here!

30. Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?
I couldn't think of a book for this question!

Your Blogging/Bookish Life:

1. New favorite book blog/Bookstagram/Youtube channel you discovered in 2019?
I found a bunch of new bookstagram accounts and blogs to follow this year, but I wouldn't be able to list just one!

2. Favorite post you wrote in 2019?
I'm always happy with my annual books I want to read that I post at the beginning of each year, and it's always fun to host the Debut Author Interviews! I also really liked writing my Cozy Mysteries Part 1 and Part 2 posts!

3. Favorite bookish related photo you took in 2019:?
I'm having trouble getting an Instagram post to show up in this post, so I'm just going to link to my favorite. :)

4. Best bookish event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events,  etc.)?
Top Ten Tuesday and Random Fridays are fun! I also really loved participating in #TBTBSanta this year!

5. Best moment of bookish/blogging life in 2019?
I would say hosting the Debut Author Interviews!

6. Most challenging thing about blogging or your reading life this year?
The anxiety and depression episode I experienced earlier this year. I barely read during that time, and I didn't blog at all. It was hard, but I'm slowly getting better.

7. Most Popular Post This Year On Your Blog (whether it be by comments or views)?

8. Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?
I'm happy with the amount of love my posts got this year, but it would have been nice to have had more interaction on my discussion posts.

9. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.)?
I don't know? :)

10.  Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?
Yes! I always set a goal of 25 books, which I met.

Looking Ahead:

1. One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2019 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2020?
Hahaha... *sighs* There were a lot of books I didn't get to this year, so there's a bunch of books I want to read. But #1? Legacy by Shannon Messenger! Right when I got my preorder, life kind of fell apart again, and I didn't feel like reading, especially because I had been looking forward to that book so much, and I didn't want everything that was happening at the time to shadow my experience of reading it. But I will read it in 2020!

2. Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2020 (non-debut)?
THERE ARE SO MANY! It is not possible for me to list just one!

3. 2020 Debut You Are Most Anticipating?
Again, THERE ARE SO MANY!

4. Series Ending/A Sequel You Are Most Anticipating in 2020?
Again, SO MANY!

5. One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging Life In 2020?
I want to host the Debut Author Interviews again (Coming in January!), I also want to go back to hosting Yay for Middle Grade Books! again in May. I want to get better at posting on Instagram. And maybe work on more blog events? I have some ideas. As for reading, my usual goal of 25 books!

6. A 2020 Release You’ve Already Read & Recommend To Everyone (if applicable):
Tweet Cute! I loved it, and cannot recommend it enough! Definitely read it when it releases in January. Also, It Sounded Better in My Head (Releases in April!) was really good!

That was fun! Thank you to Jamie for creating this survey every year! :)
