Summer Lovin’ 2022! Interview With Suzanne Park!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Suzanne Park, the author of The Christmas Clash, which releases in October! She is also the author of multiple other books, including So We Meet Again, which is out now.

Would you please tell us a little about your book, The Christmas Clash?

I would love to! THE CHRISTMAS CLASH is a YA holiday romantic comedy about two Asian American teens who work in rival businesses at Riverwood Mall. They find the mall it’s being demolished to make condos, and they have to work together to save it. They’re really happy about that part…

Did you always want to be a writer?

I wanted to be a humor writer as early as my teen years, but growing up, I never saw any Asian writers in the comedy space. I’m thrilled that so much has changed in the last *cough*-teen years. As a Korean American writer, I want society to get to the point where people aren’t surprised that there are Asians on stage, on screen, and putting pen to paper.

Random Question! What’s your favorite time of year?

I love fall, specifically the transition into holiday season. The cooler weather and pumpkin- and peppermint-flavored sweets and drinks instantly lift my mood. But my true favorite thing about this time of the year is…candy canes. I love them and, yes, hoard them, buying them when they’re on sale. Please don’t judge me by that last comment.

If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?

I just turned in my next adult book called THE DO-OVER, which will be out April 2023. It’s about a Korean American woman who finds out during an employment background check that she didn’t graduate from college, and needs to go back to her alma mater ten years later to finish her degree. But it gets worse...on the first day of class, she finds out her teaching assistant is her ex-boyfriend from college. It’s a fun second chance love story with some weighty topics included. I really enjoyed writing it.

What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?

I was lucky to get early reads of WHEN YOU WISH UPON A LANTERN by Gloria Chao and THIS TIME IT’S REAL by Ann Liang, and enjoyed both of them. I’ve been a fan of Gloria for a long time and her new book was so charming and sweet. Ann’s romcom gave me TO ALL THE BOYS feelings in the best way possible. I’m looking forward to Sayantani DasGupta’s second YA novel ROSEWOOD, which is a loose SENSE AND SENSIBILITY retelling set at theater camp. It comes out next year.

Thank you to Suzanne Park for participating in this event! :)
