Highly Anticipated 2023 Releases!

Hi, everyone! I was going through my Goodreads TBR list, and I was thinking how many awesome sounding books are releasing next year. Which made me think, why not share some of the ones I'm looking forward to reading?! Now, I'm looking forward to so many books, but I wanted to keep this post from getting too long, so these are just a few I want to read. January 1st will have a much (like seriously a lot) longer post. Here are five MG, five YA, and five Adult books I'm highly anticipating next year!

(Also, I was going to write underneath each title why I'm looking forward to it, BUT that did not happen, so just know that if a book is here it's because I'm truly looking forward to it, and it is one of my most anticipated titles!)

Mini Review: Kitty Sweet Tooth Makes a Movie!

In this sequel to an adorable and silly graphic novel for young readers, Kitty Sweet Tooth gets behind the camera and makes her own movie!

There’s just one thing Kitty Sweet Tooth loves more than going to the movies, and that’s eating delicious desserts. She’s combined her two passions in the Taste-O-Rama, a movie house where screenings are paired with tasty treats. But Kitty isn't satisfied just watching movies. She wants to make one!

With a film crew that includes Dr. Battina and Walter Witch, Kitty embarks on a quest. Her mission: to find the world's rarest and tastiest ingredients and capture it all on film. Will Kitty and her friends make the documentary of a lifetime, or will this film be a flop?

"Magical and full of queer joy―this book is such a dream!"―Alice Oseman, New York Times best-selling author of Heartstopper

The course of true love never did run smooth . . . and neither does high school in this new graphic novel series for fans of Heartstopper and The Prince and the Dressmaker.

Vi came to Arden High for a fresh start and a chance to wear beanies and button-ups instead of uniform skirts. And though doing it without her twin feels like being split in half, Vi finds her stride when she stumbles (literally!) into broody and beautiful poet-slash-influencer, Orsino. Soon Vi gets roped into helping plan the school’s Twelfth Grade Night dance, and she can’t stop dreaming about slow dancing with Orsino under the fairy lights in the gym.

The problem? All Vi’s new friends assume she’s not even into guys. And before Vi can ask Orsino to the dance, he recruits Vi to help woo his crush, Olivia. Who has a crush of her own . . . on Vi.

Star-crossed love abounds in this hilarious and romantic story of self-discovery, mistaken identities, and the magic that happens when we open our hearts to something new.

My Review: This was such a great YA graphic novel! As someone who isn't very familiar with Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, I'm sure there were references I didn't get, that someone who has read it would, but that didn't lessen my enjoyment at all! Vi, Olivia, Orsino, and all of their friends were so fun to read about. This book made me laugh multiple times while reading it, while also having emotional parts in it. And the art! I loved how it captured all the characters, and it is so visually appealing with the colors. Overall, this was a wonderful book, that I would definitely recommend reading!

I received a copy of the book from the publisher and blog tour company.

Blog Tour: Once Upon A Tour - Spotlight/Review!

A one-of-a-kind Christmas market offers holiday magic in the new romance from the author of The Kindred Spirits Supper Club.

With a name like Astra Noel Snow, holiday spirit isn't just a seasonal specialty--it's a way of life. But after a stinging divorce, Astra's yearly trip to the Milwaukee Christmas market takes on a whole new meaning. She's ready to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with the handsome stranger who saves the best kringle for her at his family bakery.

For Jack Clausen, the Julemarked with its snowy lights and charming shops stays the same, while the world outside the joyful street changes, magically leaping from one December to the next every four weeks. He's never minded living this charmed existence until Astra shows him the life he's been missing outside of the festive red brick alley.

After a swoon-worthy series of dates, some Yuletide magic, and the unexpected glow of new love, Astra and Jack must decide whether this relationship can weather all seasons, or if what they're feeling is as ephemeral as marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa.

Review: This was a wonderful adult romance, with a unique twist! Jack and Astra were great main characters, and I loved their relationship. The supporting characters were also good. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this whimsical holiday read!

Review: The Christmas Clash!

Who's naughty and nice at Riverwood Mall? In this hilarious holiday rom-com, two rivals get together to save their families' livelihoods, and Christmas, too!

Chloe Kwon can't stand Peter Li. It's always been that way. Their families don't get along either: their parents operate rival restaurants in the Riverwood Mall food court―Korean food for the Kwons and Chinese food for the Lis. Now it's the holiday season and Chloe's the photographer at the mall's Santa Land, and Peter works at the virtual reality North Pole experience right across the atrium. It's all Chloe can do to avoid Peter's smug, incredibly photogenic face.

But it turns out the mall is about to be sold to a developer and demolished for condos. Eviction notices are being handed out right before Christmas. Their parents don't know what to do, and soon Chloe and Peter realize that the two of them need to join efforts to try to save the mall. Just when it seems like they can put aside their differences and work closely (very closely) together, they discover that the Kwon and Li feud goes far deeper than either of them realize...

-summary and cover via Goodreads

Plot: This was such a fun, festive read! I loved reading about Chloe and Peter trying to save the mall. I love malls, and it honestly makes me sad that they're fading, so to read a book with a mall was really nice. Chloe wanting to be a photographer was a good subplot!

Characters: Chloe and Peter were both great leads! I loved their families, and their friends. The people (at least some of them!)  from the mall, and Chloe's photography mentor were all lovely.

The Cover: It's really cute and festive!

Overall: This was another wonderful book by Suzanne Park, who has become one of my favorite authors! A lovely, festive YA novel, that I would highly recommend reading!
