Waiting on Wednesday: Wait for Me

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Wait for Me by Caroline Leech

Set on a Scottish farm in the spring of 1945, Wait for Me begins as Paul, a severely burned German prisoner-of-war, is sent to the farm to work. Lorna, the farmer’s teenage daughter, soon discovers that in wartime, your family and your allies might not actually be your friends, and your enemy might turn out to be the love of your life. Lorna’s friendship with Paul, and their developing love for each other, is challenged by Lorna’s own prejudices and by the intolerance of her soldier brother and her friends in the village. Ultimately, the events which bring peace to Europe will tear Lorna and Paul apart. What will Lorna have to give up in order to find Paul again?

Summer Olympics 2016

I have been absolutely loving watching the Olympics! They have been so fun to watch (The athletes are so awesome and inspiring!), and my Mom and I watch together every Olympics! We love gymnastics (The women's team is amazing!), and I really enjoy watching volleyball. And we've seen a lot of swimming this year, too. All of this has made me want to read books about characters who want to go to the Olympics! :)

I read this book about a month ago, The Flip Side by Shawn Johnson! It was really good, and I enjoyed reading it a lot! If you're also wanting an Olympic book, I definitely recommend this one! :)

And as for books I plan on reading, I just got Gold Medal Summer by Donna Freitas and Babymouse Goes for the Gold by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm from the library. They both look like good reads! :)

And I saw this book on Goodreads and would like to eventually read it, too. Winning Team by Dominique Moceanu and Alicia Thompson! :)

There you have it! A few books for the Olympics! Have you read any of these? Do you want to? And do you have any recommendations for me? I found a good amount of books about gymnasts, but had trouble finding books about other athletes striving for the Olympics. (Especially about volleyball and swimming.)Tell me in  the comments! :)

Waiting on Wednesday: Caraval

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Before you enter the world of Caraval, you must remember that it’s all a game . . .

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their ruthless father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the legendary, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

Then, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation to Caraval finally arrives. So, Tella enlists a mysterious sailor’s help to whisk Scarlett away to this year’s show. But as soon as the trio arrives, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nonetheless soon becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with her sister, with Legend, and with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

Top Ten Favorite Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog

This weeks TTT was a rewind week, meaning we could go back and do any previous topic we wanted to this week. I was having trouble picking one (There are so many topics to pick from!), but I decided on favorite covers of books! I decided I'm going to limit this to just books I have read this year, because if I let myself list all of my favorite covers, we would be here all week (Possibly all month.). So here we go! :)

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Lodestar by Shannon Messenger

There are spoilers for previous books in the summary, don't read it if you haven't read the previous books!

Dark schemes unfold--and Sophie's loyalty is pushed to the limit--in this thrilling fifth book in the best-selling KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES SERIES.

Sophie Foster is back in the Lost Cities--but the Lost Cities have changed. The threat of war hangs heavy over her glittering world, and the Neverseen are wreaking havoc.

The lines between friend and enemy have blurred, and Sophie is unsure whom to trust. But when she's warned that the people she loves most will be the next victims, she knows she has to act.

A mysterious symbol could be the key--if only she knew how to translate it. Every new clue seems to lead deeper into her world's underbelly and the Black Swan aren't the only ones who have plans. The Neverseen have their own Initiative, and if Sophie doesn't stop it, they might finally have the ultimate means to control her.
