Top Ten Blogging Confessions

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog

Top Ten Blogging Confessions

I used to dog ear books. (*everyone gasps* I know. I don't anymore!)

I have not read Harry Potter...

...I have also never read The Hunger Games, Twilight, or any Jane Austen.

I collect bookmarks, but I rarely use them...

...I usually just try and remember the page number.

When I buy a book at the bookstore, I have to look at it and make sure that nothing is wrong with it before I get it...

...But when I order a used book, I don't care how it looks when I get it.

I used to organize my books, but now they just go on the shelf wherever they fit.

Whenever I go in a bookstore with my Mom, I make her go into the YA and MG area with me and point out all the books I love and all the books I want to read! :) (We're usually there awhile! (; )

I like the smell of books! :)

What's your TTT? :)

  1. Bookmarks! My weakness. I collect them as well, but also... never use them. I usually end up using a scrap of paper I tore off of a grocery list when I started the book...

    1. Yeah, I have done that before, too! And it's nice to know that I'm not the only person who collects bookmarks, but never uses them! :)

  2. I haven't read Harry Potter either. It just never appealed to me like it did to other people. I also have to make sure my book are perfect, if it is the last on on the shelf and damaged I ask if they have anymore in the back, (I am annoying like that)

  3. I have bookmarks as well and rarely use them. Oops! I'm used to dog ear too, but now I can't stand it if someone dog ears my books! I like them to be in pristine condition. Great list!

  4. I love your post. I also the same when I bring my mum into the book store. I tell her all the books I want to read (with the hope she'll buy them for me, but that hardly happens) and then I show her the books I have read and what I think of them.

I'm a remember-the-page person, I've only recently started to use bookmarks.

  7. Yes! I often look at a book's physical condition before I purchase it! (And I forgot to do that with my copy of Torn Away because I was buying 5 other books, and I wanted to have max time to sit in the cafe and read while I waited for my mom, so my copy of Torn Away has this weird scratch on the back cover.) Wow, that was a long story. Anyways, I enjoyed reading your post this week, Jessica!

  9. I used to dogear books sometimes too, but I don't anymore either. I also tried just remembering the page (using the currently-reading and progress section of Goodreads was a huge help for me) but now I have a bunch of bookmarks to choose from. Oftentimes I will try to find a super nice copy of a book I want at the bookstore, yet like you I'm not picky about used books. I guess I'm just expecting them to have character? Great list!

    1. Yes! What you just wrote! I expect used books to look used, but new books need to look new! Thank you! :)

  10. I've never read HP or the whole HG series either! Hope you don't mind that I borrowed that for my TTT list.

  11. Hey! We have quite a few confessions the same, but only one I listed! Never read HP or Twilight, but you know I LOVE HG. I don't use bookmarks either, but I tend to forget page number so I go by chapter number. Love your list, Jessica!

Lots of people have "confessed" that they haven't read Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games, OR Jane Austen . . . but only you seem to have managed all four! Congratulations! ;-D

Of course, now I'm curious, so is it okay to ask why? Do you deliberately avoid them or are you just not interested? It took me forever to finish both Harry Potter and Twilight because neither series really grabbed me and reading felt like a chore. (Well, something surprising happened with Twilight later on--but never mind that now!) I found The Hunger Games entertaining enough, but probably wouldn't have read it if my cousin hadn't literally pressed his copy into my hands and hinted that he might leave it with me. (He didn't. The jerk.) As for Jane Austen, I guess I'm mainstream enough to like her books a lot . . . though I'm Team Bronte in the Austen-Bronte wars. LOL!

    1. It's totally fine to ask! :)

I would like to read Harry Potter eventually, but there's a lot of pressure to read it now, you know? I feel like I have to love it, and I'm a little afraid I won't. But I want to read it, just haven't.

Twilight is a book I might read, but a few friends have warned me that I won't like, and it just isn't high on my TBR list.

The Hunger Games is a book that many blogging friends love, but I think it might be too violent for me. But again, I might read it eventually when I feel like I'm able to handle it. :)

And as for Jane Austen, I want to read her books! They just never make it to the top of my TBR pile when it's time for me to begin a new book. Need to, though! :)

And thank you for commenting and asking! :)

  13. It's doesn't bother me when people do it, I think because I did it for a long time before I stopped it! :)
