Waiting on Wednesday: Hello, I Love You

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout

A teen escapes to a boarding school abroad and falls for a Korean pop star in this fun and fresh romantic novel in the vein of Anna and the French Kiss.

Grace Wilde is running—from the multi-million dollar mansion her record producer father bought, the famous older brother who’s topped the country music charts five years in a row, and the mother who blames her for her brother’s breakdown. Grace escapes to the farthest place from home she can think of, a boarding school in Korea, hoping for a fresh start.

She wants nothing to do with music, but when her roommate Sophie’s twin brother Jason turns out to be the newest Korean pop music superstar, Grace is thrust back into the world of fame. She can't stand Jason, whose celebrity status is only outmatched by his oversized ego, but they form a tenuous alliance for the sake of her friendship with Sophie. As the months go by and Grace adjusts to her new life in Korea, even she can't deny the sparks flying between her and the KPOP idol.

Soon, Grace realizes that her feelings for Jason threaten her promise to herself that she'll leave behind the music industry that destroyed her family. But can Grace ignore her attraction to Jason and her undeniable pull of the music she was born to write? Sweet, fun, and romantic, this young adult novel explores what it means to experience first love and discover who you really are in the process.

The Top YA Romances I Recommend This Summer

I love reading romance books in the summer! (Not to mention all year long, too. But that's not the point of this post. (; ) And I already listed what books I'm hoping to read on the beach and everywhere else this summer, but I thought it might be fun to list what books I recommend for summer reading! :)

The books I'm listing below are a few of my favorite YA romances that I think are perfect for reading this summer! :)

The I Heart Bikinis trilogy: (Each book is its own story, you don't have to read in order to enjoy the other books. Personal favorite? He's With Me. But they're all fun!)

This is a fun choose your own romance book, with multiple endings! :)

What YA romance books would you recommend? Have you read any of these? :)

Waiting on Wednesday: Valiant

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Valiant by Sarah McGuire

A debut fairy tale retelling featuring a strong female character and a daring quest just right for fans of Shannon Hale, Jessica Day George, and Gail Carson Levine.

Saville despises the bolts of velvet and silk that her father loves- he's always prized them more than he's ever loved her. Yet when he's struck ill, she'll do anything to survive, even donning boys' clothes and begging a commission to sew for the king.

Piecing together a fine coat is far simpler than unknotting court gossip about an army of giants led by a man who cannot be defeated. And they're marching toward Reggen to seize the throne. But Saville knows giants are just stories, and no man is immortal.

Then she meets them, two scouts as tall as trees. She tricks them into leaving, but tales of the daring tailor's triumph quickly spin into impossible feats of giant-slaying. And mere stories won't deter the Duke and his larger-than-life army.

Now only a courageous and clever tailor girl can see beyond the rumors to save the kingdom again.

Valiant richly reimagines "The Brave Little Tailor," transforming it into a story of understanding, identity, and fighting to protect those you love most.

Mini Review: Ever After High: Next Top Villain

Mini Review: I always love getting back into the world of Ever After! I was a little nervous about these new books, being that they're by a different author than the first books, but I'm happy to write I had nothing to worry about. Fun and I recommend it!

(Though, was I the only person who thought this book was going to be from the POV of both Duchess AND Lizzie, instead of just Duchess? It didn't lessen my enjoyment of it, but having Lizzie on the cover and mentioned in the summary on the back made me think that.)

I checked this book out from my library.

Waiting on Wednesday: Unicorn on a Roll

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: Unicorn on a Roll (Another Heavenly Nostrils Chronicle) by Dana Simpson

The magical friendship of Phoebe and her best friend, unicorn Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, is back in this second adventure of a girl and her mythical creature!

One year has passed since Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond, accidentally hit a unicorn in the face, and was granted a single wish—which she used to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. In some ways, not much has changed. At school Phoebe still clashes with her rival--and sometimes “frenemy”--he ever-taunting and imperious Dakota. Outside of school, she still fills her free time with extra-credit homework assignments, dramatic monologues about the injustices associated with school cliques, and imaginative conspiracy theories regarding global forces like the “powerful construction paper lobby.” But unlike before, Phoebe now has a best friend to share it with—someone to make her laugh and to listen to all her extravagant ideas.

In this second volume of Heavenly Nostrils, titled, Unicorn on a Roll, the reader is invited on a journey into the lives of Phoebe and Marigold as they navigate the difficulties of grade school, celebrate the winter holidays, and explore their super hero/super villain personas together. Join in the fun, as Phoebe competes against Dakota for the leading role of “Lisa Ladybug” in their fourth-grade play—or as she struggles to “manage” the PR debacle related to her nose-picking-scandal. (“I will neither confirm nor deny the events surrounding Boogergate.”) Witness a band of unicorns staging an “intervention” and learn all the details of Marigold’s secret crush on a mysterious creature she has never seen. Perhaps most important, watch as this surprising friendship between a charming, nine-year-old dreamer and a vain, mythical beast forever changes both of them for the better.

Waiting on Wednesday: A School for Unusual Girls

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine blog

This Wednesday I'm Waiting on: A School for Unusual Girls by Kathleen Baldwin

The launch of a captivating new YA series set in Regency England that #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot calls “completely original and totally engrossing.”

It’s 1814. Napoleon is exiled on Elba. Europe is in shambles. Britain is at war on four fronts. And Stranje House, a School for Unusual Girls, has become one of Regency England’s dark little secrets. The daughters of the beau monde who don't fit high society’s constrictive mold are banished to Stranje House to be reformed into marriageable young ladies. Or so their parents think. In truth, Headmistress Emma Stranje, the original unusual girl, has plans for the young ladies—plans that entangle the girls in the dangerous world of spies, diplomacy, and war.

After accidentally setting her father’s stables on fire while performing a scientific experiment, Miss Georgiana Fitzwilliam is sent to Stranje House. But Georgie has no intention of being turned into a simpering, pudding-headed, marriageable miss. She plans to escape as soon as possible—until she meets Lord Sebastian Wyatt. Thrust together in a desperate mission to invent a new invisible ink for the English war effort, Georgie and Sebastian must find a way to work together without losing their heads—or their hearts...

Mini Reviews: My Little Pony Vol. 1, and Lizzie Bennet's Diary

Two Mini Reviews today for books I enjoyed a lot! :)

Mini review: As a My Little Pony fan, I wanted to finally read this GN! And I enjoyed it a lot! Fun to see new adventures of Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, and Rainbow Dash! :)

Mini review: As someone who has never read Pride & Prejudice (I have seen the movie.), I'm not able to write how accurate this book is to the original book, but I am able to write that I thought this was very fun! Enjoyable being able to read a diary from Lizzie's POV and I have to say that it makes me want to read the original book more now! :)

Both books I checked out from my library.

My 2 Year Blogoversary!

Today is Just Another Teen Reading Books 2nd Birthday!!!!!!! I have officially been blogging two years now! Yaaaaaaay! That's kind of insane to think about, especially because I didn't even know if I would be able to keep this blog going for a few months, yet alone two whole years! :)

Today I thought it would be fun to talk about,

Things That I Love About Blogging:

Getting to talk to a lot of awesome bloggers/readers, who have been very kind, and getting to USE ALL CAPS and lots of !!!!!!! in talking with them about books and other geeky things! :)

Getting to talk to (And interview!) wonderful and kind authors! :)

Being able to help promote favorite books, and trying to get people to read them! :)

Getting to talk about upcoming books that I'm looking forward to! :)

Being told by a blog reader that they hadn't heard of a book before reading about it on my blog! (This honestly is one of the best blogging feelings! If you found out about a book on a blog, tell the blogger! I'm pretty sure that would make them happy!) :)

Find out about books I never would have otherwise known about, that have since become favorites! (The blogging world has helped me find out about many, many books that I never would have read, had I not heard about them on another bloggers blog before!) :)

I'm thankful for all the experiences I have gotten to have since beginning this blog! Thank you to all the bloggers, authors, and just the general book geeks who have ever read, commented on, or visited this blog! You all are awesome, amazing, wonderful people! :)

Here's to many more years of blogging, and many more blogoversaries! :)
