Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Kalyn Josephson, the author of Ravenfall, which releases in August! She is also the author of multiple YA novels, including This Dark Descent, which will release in 2023.
Would you please tell us a little about your book, Ravenfall?
Sure! It’s an upper middle grade fantasy about a girl whose family runs a sentient inn at the crossroads of the human world and Otherworld, and the boy who comes to them for help solving a magical family mystery. It’s based in Celtic folklore!
Did you always want to be a writer?
For as long as I can remember. I don’t recall ever making a conscious decision to do it, just that I’ve always loved making up stories. Though it wasn’t until college that I decided to pursue publication.
Random Question! What’s your favorite color?
Green!
If you're able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?
I’m bouncing back and forth between the sequel to RAVENFALL, and my upcoming YA fantasy about a dangerous magical horse race. It’s like Peaky Blinders meets THE SCORPIO RACES.
What are some of your favorite MG books you've read recently? And what are some that you're looking forward to reading?
I highly recommend checking out FREDDIE VS THE FAMILY CURSE by Tracy Badua, THE PRINCE OF NOWHERE by Rochelle Hassan, and THE TARNISHED GARDEN by Alyssa Colman. I’m really looking forward to the sequel to UNSEEN MAGIC by Emily Lloyd-Jones.
Thank you to Kalyn Josephson for participating in this event! :)
Author Bio: Kalyn Josephson currently works as a Technical Writer in the tech industry, which leaves room for too many bad puns about technically being a writer. Though she grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, she graduated from Santa Clara University with degrees in Biology and English (Creative Writing). Currently, she lives in the Bay Area with two black cats (who are more like a tiny dragon and an ever tinier owl). THE STORM CROW duology is out now.
