Hi, everyone! Today I'm happy to present an interview with Lacie Waldon, the author of From the Jump, which releases Tuesday! She is also the author of multiple other books, including next year's The Only Game in Town.
Would you please tell us a little about your book, From the Jump?
FROM THE JUMP is about Liv Bakersfield, a woman who has spent her entire life doing all the things she's been told would lead to a perfect life. In spite of Liv's religious adherence to how-to-succeed-at articles, her career is unfulfilling, her love life is unsatisfying, and most importantly, she's never felt farther removed from the friend group she was so lucky to find in college. When she reaches her breaking point and decides to try things her own way, Liv discovers that diving into life head-first creates a lot of waves. And, while getting closer to Lucas Deiss is one wave she wouldn't mind riding, a change in their relationship might just result in the kind of wipeout guaranteed to tear their beloved friend group apart.
Did you always want to be an author?
I wanted to be an author when I was younger, until one of my mom's friends became a flight attendant. She would tell us the best stories about flying, and I just knew that was the job for me. Happily, I ended up following in her footsteps. And flying is a great job. But it was being a flight attendant, with all the time spent in hotel rooms and on planes with my roller bag stuffed full of library books, that made me realize my first instinct had been right. I wanted to write. Luckily, being on the road provides the perfect opportunity for that!
Random Question! What’s your favorite song?
Beautiful World by Colin Hay
If you’re able to talk about it, what are you currently working on?
I actually just got the email this morning that my third book, THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN has been accepted as complete! So, I intend to spend this whole week "currently working on" my tan. Hello, sunshine!!
What are some of your favorite Romance books? And what are some you’re looking forward to reading?
All-time favorites are How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo, Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, and Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married by Marian Keyes.
Some of the books I'm super excited to read are How to Fake it in Hollywood by Ava Wilder, For Butter or Worse by Erin La Rosa, and The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. But there are so many good ones coming out this year!!
Thank you to Lacie Waldon for participating in this event! :)
Author Bio: Lacie Waldon is a writer with her head in the clouds—literally. A flight attendant based in Los Angeles, Waldon spends her days writing from the jump seat and searching the world for new stories.
Her best-selling debut novel, The Layover, can be found in bookstores all over the world (and not just because she uses her flight benefits to sneak signed copies onto shelves.) It has been featured by USA Today, Buzzfeed, PopSugar, Frolic, and many others, and was voted a most-anticipated book by librarians across Canada.
Her second novel, From the Jump, lands on shelves this summer and has been deemed a “winning friends-to-lovers romance” by Publishers Weekly. Like The Layover, it promises a tropical escape and is best paired with a fruity drink and a beach towel.
